It's soft sounding, pleasing to the ear and mind and comes with an ambiance that resonates serenity. The musical and lyrical arrangements throughout the album feel like the acknowledgement and realization that one made an upright decision on uneasy things - to let go of the concerns and worriedness. Seemingly telling the listener to forget and forgive ..and in the end, to move on! Favorite track: With The Permission Of The Oil Burners.

Lost Tribe Sound My Family Goes On...is a hugely enjoyable album dripping with nostalgic indie hooks, hushed almost spoken vocals, and placid instrumentals. Caught in the Wake Forever isn't just sharing a collection of songs with My Family Goes On Without Me, I sense a big portion of his soul on display here as well. This album should tame even the most jaded of hearts. Favorite track: Forever Children.

Caught In The Wake Forever is the recording project of Scottish multi-instrumentalist & songwriter Fraser McGowan.

Since its musical inception in 2010, Caught In The Wake Forever has had releases on such esteemed labels as Hibernate Recordings, Soft Corridor, Sound In Silence & Audio Gourmet

My Family Goes On Without Me is the follow up to 2012's Hibernate release Against A Simple Wooden Cross. Continuing in the confessional diary style of its predecessor, My Family... is an album about transition, an album about acceptance and most of all an album about moving on.

With a delicate balance of ambient, instrumental & slow core folk, My Family Goes On Without Me is McGowan’s most cohesive & accessible album to date. It was recorded in its entirety at his home studio over the course of the last two years.

"I wasn’t in any hurry" McGowan says, "I wanted to get it right & let things come to light in their own time, both lyrically & sonically."
At times sounding like a long-lost Small Town Boredom record, My Family is also adorned with lyrical references to songs and situations from throughout McGowan’s growing back catalogue. "I finally got to put to bed a lot of issues on this one. There have been things that have haunted me for most of my adult life, it was time to say goodbye to them."

And that’s what we have with this album, a closing of one chapter and the beginning of the next.

Released on McGowan's own imprint, the aptly named We Live Amongst The Ruins. My Family Goes On Without Me is an album that reveals something new with each and every listen. It’s an album that has been a long time coming & an album that stays with you long after it's done.
